The Right Match

After all, this is about finding exactly the right person to be with your loved one. Making certain that the connection is strong and steady is the most critical aspect of what we do. We believe that we are the very best in the business at matching the right caregiver to the right client in the right situation. It is a skill that can only be acquired through close to half a century of experience working closely with thousands of clients/families.

Making the right match is also dependent on selecting the very best applicants as caregivers and nurses. This goes beyond their skills to who the caregivers are as human beings. They must share our values of respect and love for aging adults. They must be compassionate, reliable, trustworthy, and have that extra quality of genuine caring.

The most rigorous screening process.

At Family & Nursing Care, we utilize a rigorous five-step selection process, ensuring that only the very best caregivers are selected.

Step One:  Requirements

We ensure that each caregiver meets strict requirements and passes a thorough background check:

  • Two years hands-on experience within the last three years
  • Active State nursing certification or training certificate
  • Current license for RNs, LPNs, CNAs or CMTs
  • Complete work history for the last five years
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Social Security Card
  • Current TB Clearance
  • Hepatitis B Screening
  • Drug Screening*
  • Active CPR Certification
  • Criminal Background Check
  • Check on credit history
  • Check Board of Nursing for disciplinary actions

Step Two: Testing

Each candidate must pass a computerized competency exam. In addition, Select caregivers  must also pass a comprehensive exam consisting of their clinical comprehension and how they respond to specific situations.*

Step Three: Interview

Once a caregiver or nurse passes the above requirements, each will have a face-to-face interview. We ask many questions during the comprehensive interview, yet perhaps the most important question is the one we ask ourselves: “Would I trust this person with my loved one?” It’s powerful.

Step Four:  Reference Checking and Final Approval

We perform a reference check with every employer within the past three years. In addition, every application is reviewed and must be approved by the Vice President of Operations.

Step Five:  Introductory Business Meeting/Orientation

Every caregiver must attend a special meeting to better understand how Family & Nursing Care operates and is clear on our expectations and commitment to serve, help, and enhance the quality of life and well-being of others.
