The awards program acknowledges the top 53 businesses and organizations in Maryland based on criteria that included the recipient company’s annual revenue and employee growth as well as noteworthy product or service innovations, community service efforts and how the companies portrayed themselves as "good places to work".

Family & Nursing Care was recognized for their exceptional growth during the last three years with the creation of their sister-company Legacy Home Care and with the addition of registered and licensed practical nursing services as well as for their community service programs and innovation. The Family & Nursing Care Foundation will be launched in October 2008 providing scholarship opportunities for aspiring nurses and nursing assistants, as well as helping low-income elderly to maintain their health and independence.
