Family & Nursing Care Foundation Awards $30,000 in Grants for Fourth Year

The Family & Nursing Care Foundation, a fund of the Community Foundation for Montgomery County has once again supported Community Ministries of Rockville and Home Care Partners, Inc. with a combined total of $30,000 in grants. Both organizations provide low-income seniors with the dedicated home care they need to remain in the safety and comfort of their own homes.

“The Family & Nursing Care grant funds have been a life saver for many low income seniors who need quality home care assistance in order to remain safely in their own homes,” said Marla Lahat, Executive Director of Home Care Partners, one of the Foundation grantees.

“It has always been one of our company’s guiding principles to contribute to the community,” said Sandy Kursban, founder of Family & Nursing Care, the area’s leading provider of home care services, and its Foundation. “I am honored and privileged to be able to support the remarkable work of these organizations, and hopefully inspire other businesses to give back as well.”

“I applaud Sandy and Family & Nursing Care for their generosity in helping those who are less fortunate,” said Steve Hull, editor-in-chief and publisher of Bethesda Magazine and co-founder of Community Profits Montgomery, an initiative to recognize local businesses that are giving back in a significant way. “We at Bethesda Magazine feel like it is our responsibility to do what we can to make the community an even better place. We are so happy to have Family & Nursing Care as a Community Profits Montgomery founding member and a model for other area businesses.”

In 2012, Family & Nursing Care donated 10% of its profits to non-profit organizations, both through the Foundation and with direct donations.  As she has done for the past four years, Kursban matches every donation to the Foundation dollar for dollar from her own pocket.

About the Family & Nursing Care Foundation
Established in 2008, the Family & Nursing Care Foundation, a fund of the Community Foundation for Montgomery County, addresses two vital needs in the community –  to help support community organizations that provide low-income seniors with the dedicated home care they need to remain in the safety and comfort of their own homes and to help support homecare training programs for those individuals who want to learn the skills needed to become nurses and nursing assistants so that they may care for our elderly population.
