Rose Kyogabirwe has been a caregiver with Family & Nursing Care Select for five years. With a passion for getting to know clients on a deeper level, Rose believes in strong communication and learning everyone’s story, so she can care for them in the best possible way.
Whether it’s assisting with activities of daily living, like preparing meals of clients’ favorite dishes, bathing and washing hair, or accompanying on doctor’s appointments, Rose takes great pride in helping clients maintain their independence. One of her favorite memories is with a client who suffers from dementia and would often forget about his wife’s passing. Rose would gently remind the client of that and, though it was bittersweet, it was a touching reminder of the deep love he had for his wife. Rose was honored to comfort and support the client in those moments.
Above all, Rose believes it’s important for caregivers to be compassionate, patient, and respect their client’s dignity. She stresses it’s critical to celebrate progress and not just perfection. Apart from caregiving, Rose, who is from Uganda, enjoys cooking, listening to gospel music, singing, and exercising.
