Suzanne McKenzie has been a caregiver with Family & Nursing Care Select since 2019, bringing six years of compassionate service to clients. Known for her sincere and welcoming nature, Suzanne finds joy in greeting clients and their families each morning, ensuring they receive the best care to help them regain their independence.
One of Suzanne’s most cherished memories is with a family who welcomed her as one of their own while caring for a 90-year-old client in fragile health. When she noticed a sudden change in condition, she urged the family to take the client to the hospital — an action they later credited with saving the client’s life. Over time, with her attentive care, the client regained his strength and independence. Though her time as the client’s caregiver came to an end, their bond did not. The family continued to include Suzanne in their lives, inviting her to dinners, sending holiday cards, and celebrating milestones together.
Suzanne’s advice to fellow caregivers is simple but profound: whatever you do, do it to the best of your ability. Treat every client the way you’d want your own parents to be treated — with dignity and respect.
Originally from Jamaica, Suzanne has a deep passion for caregiving, as well as traveling, cooking, gardening, and hospitality. She prioritizes a healthy lifestyle by eating clean and staying spiritually grounded through her faith. A devoted mother to her 23-year-old daughter, Suzanne has also had the opportunity to travel the world, visiting some of the most famous landmarks, including the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and the CN Tower in Canada.
