Family & Nursing Care is proud to announce that Amanda Williams, Director of Classic Care Coordinating, has been honored with the 2025 Leader of the Year Award by the Maryland-National Capital Homecare Association (MNCHA). This prestigious award recognizes outstanding individuals who have made a lasting impact on the home care industry through exceptional leadership and service.
For Amanda, the award represents a meaningful acknowledgment of her dedication and perseverance. “It’s been a busy couple of years,” Amanda shared. “We’ve had a lot of changes, and it was really nice to be recognized for leading a team through some major organizational transitions.”
These company shifts included implementing a new client-caregiver database and a new caregiver payment and client billing process — complicated and sensitive shifts that Amanda navigated with professionalism and precision. At the same time, Amanda also restructured her department and added new roles to maintain the quality of care and coordination that clients and caregivers rely on.
“Amanda’s process, people, and management skills were put to the test with the tremendous transitions our organization faced,” said Jennifer Sussman, Vice President of Caregiver Operations for Family & Nursing Care. “She handled every aspect with expertise, ensuring a seamless experience for her team, clients, and caregivers.”
Amanda’s leadership journey began nearly a decade ago when she followed in her mother’s footsteps by joining Family & Nursing Care, initially as a Nights and Weekends Coordinator before becoming a Care Coordinating Manager. Her strengths in relationship-building and behind-the-scenes support led to her promotion to Director of Classic Care Coordinating in 2020. She stepped into this role just as the COVID-19 pandemic began, guiding her team with resilience and adaptability during a time of uncertainty. Since then, she has continued to build a collaborative and cohesive team, creating a culture of flexibility, communication, and mutual support.
One of Amanda’s standout qualities as a leader is her deep commitment to team building and supporting her staff’s individual growth. She takes the time to understand each team member’s strengths and interests and creates opportunities for them to contribute in unique ways. Amanda holds regular one-on-one meetings, quick check-ins, and team meetings to ensure every voice is heard and every challenge is addressed.
“I genuinely care for the people on my team,” Amanda said. “I want them to feel heard, supported, and successful. I’ve been lucky to have leaders who saw potential in me, and I try to do the same for my team — advocating for them, even when they’re not in the room.”
The MNCHA awards ceremony, held on May 6, was a moment of reflection and celebration for Amanda. “I’m not usually one to be the center of attention,” she said, “but hearing the nomination read aloud in a room full of peers who truly understand our work — it was overwhelming in the best way.”
Amanda’s career is a testament to the impact a person can make through empathy, innovation, and the courage to lead through change. Her work exemplifies Family & Nursing Care’s commitment to excellence in client care and caregiver support, and we are honored to celebrate her well-deserved recognition. Please join us in congratulating Amanda!
