Kelly Salb

Kelly Salb is the Vice President of Client Services for Family & Nursing Care. In this role, Kelly plays a crucial part in ensuring each client and their family receives the highest quality of care they desire and deserve. She oversees a team of highly trained Client Service Managers and Registered Nurses who serve as liaisons, educators, listeners, and problem solvers to help meet clients’ caregiving needs every step of the way.

Kelly joined Family & Nursing Care in 2012 as a Client Services Manager before being promoted to Director of Client Services in 2017 and again in 2022 to her current position. Throughout her tenure, Kelly has played a key role in building strong relationships and creating positive experiences for clients, with 98% saying they would recommend Family & Nursing Care to a friend or family members. Kelly was named to Aging Media Network’s Future Leaders Class of 2022 for her dedication to enhancing the quality of life for older adults.

With nearly 20 years of experience in the care industry in Maryland, Kelly originally became a licensed social worker in 2005 and worked as an addictions counselor at The W House in Hagerstown. In 2007, she spent several years working with dually diagnosed teenagers at KidsPeace in Columbia, before working for a startup home care agency in Bethesda in 2010.

Kelly holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from Longwood University in 2004. When not working, she loves anything sports-related, spending time outdoors, and staying active with her husband and their three children.

Jennifer Sussman

Jennifer Sussman is the Vice President of Caregiver Operations for Family & Nursing Care. In this role, she oversees finding the highest qualified caregivers and referring the right caregiver to match each client’s unique needs.

Jennifer joined Family & Nursing Care as a college intern in 2002 and has spent her entire professional career with the company. After originally studying to be a teacher, she felt very welcomed by the company culture and found a similar interest in wanting to help people. During her tenure, she has served in many roles, including in IT, accounting, office management, as well as recruiting and caregiver services. She views her current role as one of collaboration and encourages her team to share ideas and challenge the status quo with new ways of doing things.

Throughout her time at Family & Nursing Care, Jennifer has played a key role in growing the company’s network of more than 1,500 highly skilled caregivers to help meet clients’ needs. She also has helped set a high bar with only the top 8% of caregivers who apply meeting the company’s unwavering standards of excellence, ensuring every caregiver is the best-of-the-best.

Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in education from the University of Delaware. When not working, you can find Jennifer spending time with her husband and two young daughters.

Sherry Peach-Walker

Sherry Peach-Walker is the Vice President of Human Resources for Family & Nursing Care. In this role, she oversees the hiring, management, and training of staff. She also helps ensure that staff live out the company’s guiding values, and they remain committed to meeting the needs and expectations of clients, families, and professionals.

With nearly 30 years of experience in the home care industry, Sherry joined Family & Nursing Care in 2005. During her tenure, Sherry has held several roles of increasing responsibility, most recently serving as Vice President of Client Services before transitioning to her current position.

Prior to joining Family & Nursing Care, Sherry served as community relations manager at Thomas House, account manager and work/life consultant for elder care at LifeWork Strategies, EAP, and director of volunteer services at the Washington Home & Hospice of Washington.

Sherry’s dedication to home care is rooted in her personal experiences caring for aging relatives where she witnessed the complexities of navigating healthcare systems while ensuring high-quality care for her loved ones. Through the years, she has presented at the National Hospice Organization Conference, co-organized community outreach programs such as a children’s bereavement camp and wellness workshops, and managed an alternative therapy program.

A graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, Sherry enjoys spending time with her husband, sons, and their dog, Molly, whom the family rescued in 2018. She is also a strong proponent of organ donation, travel, and time with friends.

Mitch Markowitz

Mitch Markowitz is the Vice President of Business Development for Family & Nursing Care. In this role, he cultivates relationships with hospitals, senior living communities, and many other types of healthcare organizations to help grow the company’s client base.  

 Mitch joined Family & Nursing Care in 2001 as Director of Community Relations before being promoted to his current position. During his tenure, Mitch has played an important role in helping the company grow to assist tens of thousands of older adults and expand its network to more than 1,500 experienced caregivers who help meet their needs. He has also helped lead efforts to expand the company’s footprint outside of suburban Maryland and Washington, D.C., including in central Maryland and recently in the Philadelphia area. 

 With nearly 30 years of experience in the home care and healthcare fields, Mitch worked in the senior housing industry in continuing care and stand-alone assisted living communities prior to joining Family & Nursing Care.  

 An active member in the local community, Mitch has served on the Board of Trustees for The Beacon Institute from 2008-2020 and as a part of the Leadership Montgomery class of 2015-2016. A sought-after speaker, Mitch has spoken at the local, state, and national level.  

 Mitch holds a bachelor’s degree from Towson University. When not working, he is an avid sports and music fan, and is also a professional actor having appeared in several commercials and independent projects.

Risa Margulies

Risa Margulies is the Vice President of Communications and Marketing for Family & Nursing Care. In this role, she leads the marketing, communications, and advertising functions to advance the company’s corporate strategy across all professional, client and caregiver touchpoints.

During her tenure at Family & Nursing Care, Risa has focused on customer care and effective messaging. She led communications during the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in 93% of caregivers getting vaccinated. Risa also revamped the company’s newsletters and website, facilitated the market entry into Philadelphia, and has organized caregiver engagement activities, including an annual picnic attended by over 500 people.

With more than 25 years of corporate communications experience, Risa joined Family & Nursing Care in 2020 as Director of Communications and Marketing before being promoted to her current position in 2024. Prior to joining Family & Nursing Care, Risa helped lead communications initiatives for esteemed companies including HSBC North America, Sodexo, Inc., Choice Hotels International, and Marriott International.

Risa’s passion for working with older adults began in high school when she volunteered at a senior living community, and when she aided her grandmother’s transition to a skilled nursing facility during a summer off from college. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English communications from Yeshiva University – Stern College for Women.

Outside of work, Risa enjoys time with her husband and children, staying active with Peloton classes, cooking, reading, and watching quality TV shows and documentaries.

Mindy Kursban

Mindy Kursban is the Vice President, General Counsel for Family & Nursing Care. In this role, she manages in-house legal functions and advises the company on business, risk, operational, regulatory, employment, and legislative matters.

Mindy joined Family & Nursing Care in 2007 and has held the role of Vice President, General Counsel since that time. During her tenure, Mindy has created policies and procedures to ensure the company operates within legal bounds while also best serving the needs of clients, consulted on day-to-day legal issues, and assisted with the company’s geographic expansion outside of suburban Maryland and Washington, D.C.

Prior to joining the family business, Mindy served eight years as general counsel and then as Executive Director of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, a nonprofit health advocacy group that focuses on disease prevention through good nutrition and compassion in medicine. She began her career as a clerk for the Honorable Darlene Perry of the Prince George’s County Circuit Court and then worked as an associate attorney for four years at a law firm in Maryland.

Mindy currently serves on the Board of the Private Care Association and is a member of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce Labor & Employment Committee, the Association of Corporate Counsel, and the Policy Committee for the Home Care Association of America. Mindy holds a Juris Doctor degree from the Emory University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland.

When not working, Mindy spends her time promoting veganism and animal rights, including serving as Chair of the Board for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine and as a volunteer for the Veg Society of DC.

Kira Ebanks

Kira Ebanks is the Vice President of Finance for Family & Nursing Care. In this role, she is responsible for overseeing the company’s financial strategy and long-term goals, including managing the budgeting process and providing financial reports. She also leads and mentors the finance team, where she fosters operational efficiency and continued development and growth.

With more than 20 years of experience in the finance field, Kira joined Family & Nursing Care in 2017. Her career initially began in marketing but changed career paths after she was provided an opportunity as a Financial Analyst. With a strong love of numbers, Kira has held several finance positions for various companies, including American Airlines, Wyndham Sunshine Suites, Stingray Construction for Ritz Carlton, and the International College of the Cayman Islands.

At the age of 16, Kira was admitted to college, earning a bachelor’s degree from Howard University and a master’s degree from George Washington University. Although she has spent much of her life living in Maryland, Kira lived for more than a decade in the Cayman Islands, where she not only worked, but also met her husband. When not working, Kira loves reading, traveling, arts and crafts, but most of all, spending time with her family.

Jeff Zukerman

Jeff Zukerman is the President of Family & Nursing Care. In this role, he oversees client services, caregiver operations, business development, marketing and communications, and human resources. He also plays a key role in expanding the company’s footprint into other markets, including most recently in the Philadelphia area.

With more than 25 years of experience in the elder care industry, Jeff joined Family & Nursing Care in 2010. During his tenure, he has helped the company grow to assist tens of thousands of older adults and expand its network to more than 1,500 experienced caregivers who help meet their needs. Additionally, throughout this time, the company has become a 10-time winner of Bethesda Magazine’s Best of Bethesda Readers’ Poll and a Circle of Excellence recipient by the National Business Research Institute, with 98% of clients saying they would recommend Family & Nursing Care to a friend or family member.

Prior to joining Family & Nursing Care, Jeff was the Executive Director of a Boston-based private duty home care company, HouseWorks of Greater Washington. He began his career in the hospitality industry after graduating from Johnson and Wales University. In his first position at a five-star resort, he learned about providing exceptional service and constantly striving for excellence in the customer’s experience. He brought that same passion to the healthcare industry when he joined Marriott Senior Living Services. Throughout his 10-plus year career with Marriott, then Sunrise Senior Living, Jeff had the opportunity to work in three different senior communities and was invited to visit many others to help with special projects. It is through these experiences and the first-rate professional development he participated in throughout that time that Jeff developed a passion for “getting it right” for older adults.

After graduating from Johnson and Wales University, Jeff later earned a bachelor’s degree in management studies from the University of Maryland. When not working, Jeff enjoys spending time with his family, especially when they are playing sports together.

Neal Kursban

Neal Kursban is the Owner and CEO of Family & Nursing Care. He leads all aspects of Family & Nursing Care, one of the oldest, largest, and most well-respected home care companies in the eastern United States. With a focus on expanding the company’s footprint outside of suburban Maryland and Washington, D.C., Neal is leading the efforts to bring its compassionate and reliable home care services to the Philadelphia area.

Since 1968, Family & Nursing Care has assisted tens of thousands of older adults with its network of more than 1,500 experienced caregivers to help exceed their expectations. As a 10-time recipient of the prestigious National Business Research Institute Circle of Excellence award, Family & Nursing Care is committed to providing the best possible experiences for clients, caregivers, and staff year after year.

Neal joined the family business in 1995 and has worked in every department in the company, including Receptionist, Care Coordinator, Caregiver Services Recruiter, Intake Specialist, Client Service Liaison, IT Manager, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Vice President of Operations, and Vice President of Finance. These roles enabled him to learn all facets of the company, so he could lead it into the future when he became President in 2008 and CEO in 2018. Prior to joining Family & Nursing Care, Neal worked for Taco Bell and was quickly promoted to Corporate Recruiter and later to District Manager in the San Diego market.

An active member of the community, Neal devotes considerable time and funding to charitable organizations in the Maryland and Washington, D.C. area and serves on various boards dedicated to improving the quality of life for older adults. Neal has also helped shape the laws of home care across the country, in addition to serving as a mentor for the University of Maryland Entrepreneurship Center. A sought-after speaker, Neal has appeared at conferences around the country and has been featured in a variety of national publications on home care topics.

Neal holds a bachelor’s degree in business and finance from the University of Massachusetts and a Master of Business Administration in entrepreneurship and management from the University of Maryland. When not working, Neal enjoys spending time doing anything athletic, traveling, and having lots of fun with his wife, four kids, and pets.
